The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has confirmed that in December 2020, the average cost for refilling five kilograms of cooking gas per cylinder increased from N1,947.47 in November to N1,949.75.
On Saturday, at its “Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch” for December 2020, obtained from its website in Abuja, the office revealed this.
The NBS stated that the cost of the 5 kg cooking gas cylinder for refilling increased by 0.12 per cent
month-on-month and decreased by -3.41 per cent year-on-year during the period under study.
According to the Bureau, Bauchi at N2, 489.12, Borno at N2, 396.69 and Adamawa at N2, 392.88 were the states with the highest total value for refilling 5kg cylinders for cooking gas.
It also confirmed that Enugu at N1,563.75, Imo at N1,678.89 and Oyo at N1,691.67 were the states with the lowest average cost for refilling the product’s 5 kg cylinder.
Equally, the average cost for refilling a 12.5 kg cooking gas cylinder increased by 1.75% month-on-month and reduced by -0.52% year-on-year to N4,082.97 in December compared to N4,082.97 in November.’
Delta N4,838.46, Cross River/Sokoto N4,800 and Akwa Ibom N4,614.49 were the states with the highest price for refilling a 12.5kg cooking gas cylinder.’
Kaduna N3,191.67, Zamfara N3,462.5 and Niger N3,500 were the states with the lowest average price for refilling a 12.5 kg cooking gas cylinder, it stated.
It said the different prices were recorded from over 10,000 respondents and locations across all the 774 local governments in the nation, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The NBS stated that its audit committee later performed randomly selected confirmation of recorded costs.
